People I talk to about “healthy” eating get so caught up on what they have to give up. Many times they assume healthy eating means no flavor, a life of strictly salads, and definitely no treats. Well that's not true. People have to just be willing to explore, be creative, and be adventurous enough to try out new food options. When choosing treats, yes, homemade is the best option. You can choose the best ingredients and you can make tasty, but healthy options. However, I know this isn't always feasible. There are still healthier options. Try to choose items with the least amount of ingredients.
Sweet Potato Chips (6 ingredients)
Black Pepper & Sea Salt Chip (13 ingredients)
Doritos (30+ ingredients)
Since I am vegan, I have learned to not only create items that are healthy, but that are free of animal products. There are cookbooks for everything. And now there are stores that focus on better quality items. Even healthy food aisles are popping up in regular grocery stores. If you want to be healthy, you can. Just try to keep the food choices as “close to nature” as possible…meaning leave the man-made crap (or Franken Foods) alone! No good can come from those “foods.” The Creator (whatever name you choose) has provided everything we need.
