I’m bringing you a quick 15 minute podcast today full of my “lazy vegan” tips to help you save time and keep you on track in your vegan lifestyle.
I’m calling these lazy vegan tips, but in reality, these are just real life tips. We all have things going on in our lives between family, work, our social lives, and so many obligations. I share in this podcast the simple truth that if you’re going from eating a standard American diet to trying out a plant based diet, you’re going to be spending more time thinking about and planning for food. It’s just the reality. But with some strategy, you can quickly learn how to make veganism convenient for you and feel much more capable of staying on track.
You’ll have to listen to the episode for all the details, but I’m talking about:
Using meal and grocery delivery apps to make meal planning and shopping more convenient
How to find vegan options and specialty items near you
Using convenience items like precut fruit, frozen vegetables, or bags of fries to make quick meals
Easy vegan meal prep suggestions
The importance of vegan sauces and how to make your own
Alright ya’ll, let me know if you found this helpful and if you have some of your own lazy vegan tips, please share them with me–I’d love to know!

If you’re a new vegan or someone interested in becoming vegan, this episode will be so valuable to you!
Today I have Aida Habte on the podcast.
Aida’s family is from Eritrea and her cultural upbringing as a first generation Eritrean-American helped shape her food choices later down the road. Growing up, she understood from an early age where meat comes from since her family and community would buy fresh meat from local farmers and would often see the animals being slaughtered.
While it was a normal experience for her culture and community, Aida does share with me on this episode that seeing the realities of animals being killed from a young age definitely played a role in her initially going pescatarian.
As so many of my guests share, watching documentaries about our food systems, health impacts of animal products, and the realities of animal agriculture played a huge role in helping Aida decide to go vegan.
She thought, “If I care enough about these issues to stop eating meat, I should probably go all the way and go vegan.”
Aida talks about this transition and how she made the final decision to go vegan in 2020.
Like I mentioned, this podcast will be so relatable for new vegans since Aida has only been vegan for two years herself. As a newer vegan, she brings a great perspective about transitioning to veganism, and shares some amazing tips that you all will definitely benefit from.
She is also a vegan mom and we have a powerful conversation about letting go of having complete control over your children’s food choices, educating and empowering them to make their own decisions, and how we all need to release judgment around vegan parenting.
In this episode we chat about:
Aida’s personal journey going from being a pescatarian to a vegan, and what inspired her to go vegan
Veganizing cultural dishes
Being a vegan mom, raising vegan children, and the complexity of transitioning a family to veganism
Nutrition myths about meat and dairy that we all were raised to believe
Strategies for staying full and feeling satisfied as a vegan
Why raw vegans need to eat larger portions
Tips for new vegans to help them transition easily, make delicious & simple meals, and feel satisfied when eating plant-based
Why you need to find what works for YOU as a new vegan

8. A Candid Conversation with Vegan Cooking with Love (Michelle Johnson)
Michelle is one of my best friends, so it only made sense that we would get together and talk vegan life and food on my latest podcast episode.
I have to tell you that I was sooo nervous to record with Michelle because we tend to have like 80 convos going at the same time and I wasn't sure if people would be able to keep up. lol

I listened to the convo back and think we did a great job of keeping it together. We talk about dealing with family after transitioning to vegan eating, how to eat out, why being a vegan isn't a life of perfection and why vegan meals isn't "space" food.
Notable Quotes from Michelle:
"This diet can be as easy or complicated as you make it."
"There's no need to claim anything (vegan title). Eat in a way that make you feel good from a moral perspective."
"Whatever little bit you do makes a difference."
Our talk is pretty lengthy (but awesome!), so I just typed up a time stamp if you feel like fast forwarding some of the conversation.
Time stamps:
10 mins - Is being vegan for health reasons enough?
18 mins - Why you don't have to shop at expensive stores to be vegan
22 mins - Why it's so important to replace ingredients when you start a vegan journey
24 mins - Tips on getting started on a vegan journey & why "all or nothing" shouldn't apply
34 mins - Good vegan books & documentaries
37 mins - Why free-range animal products aren't a good idea
41 mins - Why vegan food isn't "space" food
46 mins - What positive/negative changes did you not expect when you changed your lifestyle
49 mins - "I love my pet but I eat meat" The disconnect discussion
53 mins - Why the food industry doesn't care about you
1:06 mins - Being served non-vegan food at a restaurant-eat it or toss it?
1:13 mins - How to eat vegan while out
