When it comes to eating out, being a vegan can be such a hassle. I'm not interested in going back to the SAD diet but sometimes when I go out to eat, I feel so restricted.
I typically review a restaurant's menu online before leaving the house, only to find that there are no obvious vegan choices for me. I enjoy dining out and spending time with my family, and sometimes I would much rather eat the cake at a birthday party than sit in the corner like a weirdo.
Do you think these feelings are normal?
I vlogged a bit more about it in the video below...
On a brighter note, we dined at Red Robin the other night and there were several vegan options on the menu for me to enjoy.
The boys also had a great time!

What was the first thing Theo asked for when we went to the grocery store yesterday? Ice cream!
We headed to the frozen section for our usual vanilla So Delicious but I reached for their Mocha Almond Fudge Minis instead.
Since junk food rarely last more than 24 hours in our house, we opened the box as soon as we got home.
*Dairy Free
*Soy Free
The dark chocolate coating is crunchy with almonds & coconut-delicious!
I can't say the same for the actual ice cream. I'm not a fan of coffee and the "mocha almond fudge" tasted too much like it to me.
My kids loved the bars though-so majority rules in this ice cream war. :-)
Would I buy it again? If the kids request it.
I did see some other So Delicious Minis flavors at the store, so I plan to try those too.
Have you tried this ice cream or any of the other So Delicious products?
A few months ago, when I posted my Rice Krispies Treats video, a few viewers gave me suggestions on how to make the recipe healthier and/or less expensive. I was grateful for the feedback but will likely continue to make the recipe the same way I did in the video.
Why? Because it's familiar. My current recipe reminds me of making homemade Rice Krispies Treats with my next door neighbor on summer afternoons as a kid. The cooking process and taste are almost identical.
I feel as though many people decide not to embrace veganism because there's a stigma of sacrifice and extreme health consciousness.
There's too much focus of what you can't eat opposed to what you can. Maybe my views are different because I didn't become a vegan for health reasons.
I don't mind junk food and also have no problem eating meat alternatives. I've found some really good brands and they actually make meal planning and cooking easier.
If I didn't feel like I couldn't eat what I wanted, I wouldn't have made it this far. I grew up near PETA's headquarters and thought vegans were nuts. I couldn't understand why anyone would want to eat only tofu and salads for the rest of their lives.
Boy, was I wrong! There's more to veganism than tofu and salads.
People want familiar, comforting food. Sure, I love my smoothies and all the other healthy jazz, but overall we don't want to feel like we're missing out.
Experiment with vegan recipes and take this lifestyle one day at a time.
Porti De Rossi said it best- "Make all the foods you love vegan instead of making vegan food."
What do you think?
We just came from a relaxing few days in Kentucky and I feel so thankful for such an open minded and accommodating family. Hubby's family owns a second home there and we arrived to plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables.
My aunt: "I picked up some Earth Balance at the store. Do you use that? I was thinking you could use it on toast." Heck yeah! I really appreciate that she thought of me and made sure I had options. She also picked up several bags of hash browns for breakfast, bread without eggs, and a few other vegan friendly snacks.
Of course we had to do some vegan baking! Aunt Colleen is all about desserts, so I suggested we make cupcakes!
Everyone loved them!
Aunt Colleen even said she wants to start a meatless dinner once a week. Woohoo!
