Ferry Farm
****Another very late post****
I was finally able to go on a school field trip with Alvin today to Ferry Farm in Stafford, VA. Since this is an outside field trip, it was cancelled on two previous occasion due to the weather.
Ferry Farm is the childhood home of George Washington and also where Powhatan Indians lived with their families.
There were several stations set up for exploration and lectures on the life of Powhatan Indians.
At the 1st station the children made rainmakers out of empty toliet paper rolls and dry rice:
Station #2
Tree Exploration with Mr Ray. He discussed properties of how to identify different trees and the kids enjoyed touching and asking questions.
Station #3
Music with Gourds
The kids played for about 20 minutes after lucnh
Pretending to maneuver a canoe
Playing Native American Games
I think the best part of the trip for the kids was convincing the trunk drivers to blow their horns!
Spring Carnival
***Very late posting this...just realized it was listed in my "draft" folder
We attended the boys annual Spring Carnival at their elementary school.
The school put more effort into the event this year by offering a rock climbing wall, more games and moon bounces.
The boys couldn't wait to get to the fun!
Of course I had to support the PTA by getting a few treats from the concession stand.
What My Kids Say
We danced in the rain at Magic Kingdom last night. Simon is NOT shy at all; especially when given an opportunity to perform in front of a crowd. There were several hundred people watching him and Theo dance in the Tomorrowland section of the park.
Here's video of the boys dancing....

Simon: "Mommy, should I go back out there and dance again?"
Me: *speechless*
What My Kids Say
I'm embarrassed to say that none of my kids can swim. It's actually quite sad since we live on a lake and "swim" every summer.
Here's the evidence that I FAIL as a mommy LOL

Anyways..
I've decided that I will make an effort to show the boys how to swim; even though I can't do it very well myself. Yes, it is truly the case of the blind leading the blind.
We found a few noodles in the condo and the boys happily took them with us to the pool yesterday. They also gained a lot of confidence by "swimming" and relying on the noodles to keep afloat.
Theo was floating with 2 noodles and I took one away promising him that he wouldn't drown. He protested when I explained that taking it away will NOT cause him to sink. As soon as I retrieved the noodle he went right under the water. OOPS Let me explain. A few minutes before that I did the same thing with Alvin and the idea went as planned.
I pulled him back up and he shouted!
"I TOLD YOU I NEEDED THE NOODLE! I WENT UNDER THE WATER."
Lesson learned. lol
